Bob, as other posters mention above, it's definitely worth upgrading to Evergreen Deluxe on the long segments between LAX and TPE. Suggest you enquire directly with BR about this. I seem to recall reading that you can pay at the ticket counter in LAX for upgrades. I wrote a report on my EVA trip to Bali in the Trip Reports board a few weeks ago. Be sure you have adequate "provisions" (1-2 changes of clothing, meds, etc.) in your carryon in case your luggage is delayed arriving in BKK.
