I received my paper tickets from American Airlines this afternoon. All segments of the flight were included, so I assume that I can receive all my boarding passes for the first leg from the American Airlines ticket counter before I leave San Antonio, including that for China Airlines.

I noticed on the itinerary I received that my flight is booked as "coach" on my domestic flights from SAT to DFW and from DFW to LAX. The AA code-share flight with EVA from LAX to TPE is marked "economy", and the China Airlines flight from TPE to BKK is marked "coach". I called the Houston office this afternoon to see if there is a distinction between thses classes, but no one was in the office who could answer my question. I'll call back tomorrow.

I wasn't sure if it were possible to check my bags all the way to BKK since my flight involves a change in airlines (China Airlines) that isn't a part of the code-share. This is due to my inexperience. While I'm quite a seasoned traveler, I've never switched airlines like this on the same leg of a flight. As long as I can check everything all the way through to BKK from SAT, I should be just fine. Now that you've mentioned that there is a transfer counter at TPE, I feel a lot better about this being a successful trip. I can hardly wait to post a detailed trip report when I return.

I appreciate your response. Thanks!
