My wife and I took advantage of travelling F on AA as non rev passengers on a couple of occasions between LHR and ORD and we were careful to adopt a smart dress code as advised. I remember buying new shoes and wore a smart sweater which avoided the need for a tie and jacket. We were properly scrutinised at check-in!
