Well can skip the part about where I am a bonehead, but yes I did it. If I apply for a replacement passport I would need it within 18 days from tomorrow or I can risk it. The closest regional passport office is about 14 hours round trip which I can't do. The passport is not in bad shape, the cover is fine, the glossy photo page is fine, the blank pages are fine. The only part that you can even tell is the few stamps I have look faded or like the ink has ran. Expedited service will just get me "2 to 3 weeks" and I would hate to surrender it and have nothing.
