you do NOT need to specify hotel and/or dates - in your example a Cat 1-5 cert is deposited into your acct with a one year expiration (although posts here say they are extendable)
Thank you, I am going to do the package then. Seems like a really good deal for my purposes. I can definitely use the one week category 1-5 stay within a year and tend to rack up MR quite quickly so have plenty to spare, whereas getting AA miles is more difficult.
