I'm a great believer in the "tear out the pages you need" plan.

On my last trip to Bali I noticed that our driver/guide was really interested in my Knopf guide, by far the best guidebook for the island. I had him take it home at night several times, but who knows if he every had time to read it in the evenings. I looked for one in the local bookstores to give to him and couldn't find it. So I gave him my book when he took us to the airport at the end of the trip. He was really surprised, but I figured I could easily get another one and he could share details in the book with many future clients.
