She was always supposed to be on this flight. She told me that was was informed at bag drop that she was not guaranteed to be on the flight. I don't know exactly what she was told as I didn't hear it.
She was not one of the downgraded passengers. I provided the info as background to demonstrate that the flight was clearly oversold.
