I'm a few thousand miles from diamond "status." This year I'm platinum - due to health problems last year - after several years prior with diamond status.

As I sit at the cusp of gaining diamond status again, with several international flights still to come this year and one domestic flight, I can't really find motivation to change my status as not much has changed since I was downgraded. I still get some upgrades and miss others. When I fly domestically I fly with my children and wife more often than not, so I don't see advantage here very often in any event. And with no international upgrades nothing changes there, either.

Here I welcome thoughts from others. Have others made a similar calculation? Have others pondered this possibility and elected to take diamond status? If so, why? And thanks in advance for your ideas.
