We are thinking of flying JFK-FRA-SIN-DPS-SIN-FRA-JFK. Realize this is a somewhat longer route, but doing it in part for *A status retention purposes and in part to try out service on the A380.
Thx for your thoughts.
I personally think SQ Y is better than CX Y. I found CX Y seats on 77W are too "thin". I found SQ A380 Y seats are better. Likewise the IFE in SQ is much better than CX in Y as CX Y IFE is touch screen.
However, it is important to note that there is no way for you to make same day connection on the return leg if you fly CX. DPS-HKG flight will arrive at 9pm and the last HKG-JFK flight depart at 645pm, hence you need to take the 920am flight (which means 24 hours lay over in HKG).
With 4 flights between SIN and DPS, I am pretty sure there is a flight that can give you a direct connection to JFK flights both way.
If the price is about the same, and you need miles for *A retention, I think SQ will be the better option.
