Be sure to check what your cc charges for foreign exchanges - I have one that adds nothing, one that adds 2% and one that adds 3% (amex). This applies to purchases and ATM withdrawals (as well as whatever other charges your bank may impose on atm)

If money matters, this can add up - the only reason I carry the higher cost ones is in case of emergency
