But in general they keep telling that there is "no need anymore" to present CC upon departure (regardless any other wording on the website!) at least if tickets start in Thailand, Germany, Japan and other countries where they haven't observed much CC-fraud activities during the last years......
i remember there was a period of time where "no need anymore" was only valid for ROP Gold members (that time was before Platinum was active). not sure if that rule is still being practised.
i still frequently need to show it (even as PLAT), whenever purchased directly from TG (such as X/I/O class, for example). its their requirement as form of identification verification. check-in desk has to key in the last four digits of the card to their computer to get the OK.
now, to avoid to have to show credit card at check-in, one can go to any TG ticketing office in person and show credit card and PNR, the agent will do the verification then at the ticketing office. that also worx for tix purchased online for third party (travellers that are not credit card holder, when credit card holder is not travelling himself). *not sure if that works for the BKK ticketing office at the airport. town offices, for sure they will help for that.
hope that helps
