Thinking again about the qty of the American breakfast room service, I guess it might be small compared to some hotels. We are very light eaters and made it through everything except the bakery basket. At Park Hyatt Vendome we barely got half-way through and I had to ask them to leave things off each morning so as not to waste too much.
But I think there is a bit of a cultural thing here. The Japanese reluctance to waste food, so the qty is catered more to the Japanese appetite.
The Japanese breakfast through room service has more qty than the American breakfast; they even include a large pot of extra rice. As for cultural quirks, for some strange reason my wife is much more reluctant to leave any of the Japanese breakfast uneaten then she is for the American breakfast.
