There is a banner, 1 metre high, 8 metres long, which runs above the tray exit area. Despite the size of this notice, and the use of pictures for those who struggle with words, many people don't seem to see it. At EDI there are staff who often "encourage" users to put the trays away.
While I myself tend to help out and put 5-6 trays into the empty trays section, I don't think this is a pax responsibility. To make a comparison, it's not my job to put a used shopping basket where new customers can get it.
This is a problem that T5 must solve, hire a person for this. If you divide the salary between hundred of thousands pax each day, it can't be more than a penny.
