2. This site explains 'credit freeze'...
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles...it-freeze-faqs. This essential prevents anyone from checking your credit until you 'unlock the freeze'. The unlock procedure is not painless....you need to call each credit agency with a PIN password and depending on the state, be charged anywhere from $0.00 to $10 per unlock. You can unlock for a duration, for a specific vendor/bank, etc....
