I hate early morning flights too, but there are two things I hate even more: losing money (my time is billable and directly tied to my income), and connecting flights. So even though I live in southern Maine, I usually fly out of BOS on the first available Monday morning flight. For a 6am departure, I need to be on a bus out of Portland at 3:15am. Since I live a half-hour north of Portland, my alarm is set for 2am, as is the backup alarm on my phone.

If I drove rather than take the bus I could sleep for another 30-45 minutes, but I usually get at least that much sleep on the bus.

And the bus fare plus Portland parking is a fraction of the cost of BOS parking, even in the "Economy" lot.
