I used to stay at the 34th Street Y in NYC where I could touch both walls when I stretched out my arms, bathroom down the hall. (cheapest room in NYC other than the Jane Street Hotel, but let's not go there).

I think the smallest 'nice' room I ever felt ripped off paying good money for was a hotel in Reno/Sparks.
