I had a really small room at the Hotel Kitano New York (double bed with 1.5 foot on each side) but I thought it just enhanced the Japanese flavor of the hotel

Stayed at the paramount once and got in an argument with the desk clerk over whether the bed in our room was really a "king" size bed. I argued that there were standard sizes for king size beds and that this didn't meet them. He argued that 1) there weren't stanard sizes but 2) his beds were the same size as the Marriott Marquis down the street. I even whent so far as to buy a tape measure and measure the bed. Sure enough, it was 8 inches narrower than my kink at home.
