I would recommend Fiji....it has the best tourist facilities of the south pacific islands, and as I am Fijian I have been in contact with family in Fiji and they assure me that if tourists are visiting Nadi or the island resorts everything is FINE!!!
Only Suva at this stage is noticeably affected by the Coup. New Zealand and Australian tourist numbers have so far only dropped by approx 20%, with most tourists continuing to fly to Fiji on holiday and enjoying it too.
Air Pacific, Air New Zealand and Qantas are continuing as normal with flights to Nadi.
Originally Air Pacific and Qantas, which are the only 2 airlines to fly to Suva, altered their flights to Suva immediately after the coup, but I think they may have resumed flights again!
You are not missing much by not going to Suva anyway. All the resorts and 5 star accomodation are on the Western side or Coral Coast.
Vinaka!!
