I know how much you and others like this hotel, and I had great expectations for it, especially after meeting Ms. Lobo. But as far as the many of the other staff I interacted with, it felt like they were eager college kids lacking the common sense that comes with experience either in work or in life.
I've felt that way there too and at it's sister hotel I'm currently staying at at 5th Ave. I don't have enough of a sample size with Andaz but I wonder if cluelessness is a brand trait.
At least the Japanese staff will do what you want and fulfill requests. These staffers here say one thing and do another or nothing.
