- it's worth considering if I book in W, not if I book in Y (with only 24-34 seats in W it does seem a realistic bet)

DL operated seems to maintain the better option ... tough life.
It can also always help to talk to someone at the Air France Salon. After checking at the salon, I alway inquire about paying for an upgrade. I'm usually told no upgrades are available; at this point I ask if hey know if the flight is oversold and there might be a chance for an op-up. Just having it out there...never hurts.
