These so called "op-up priority rules" are soft at best. On AF and on DL.

It is true that a higher status has better chances, but at the gate anything can happen. I have witnessed a FO and a couple with no status being upgraded before me (PM) and perhaps other PM's and DM's and this is the one time I had the chance of observing everything. Who knows how many other times the "higher status order of precedence" has been violated.
I wouldn't count on it on DL and certainly not on AF.

It is also true that AF/KL have problems displaying the correct status of skymiles medallions.
This last trip (006 ticket, AF/KL metal) I appeared as FB Silver on the AF website, the machine at AMS spit out a FB Platinum BP. The one in CDG a BP with no status indication whatsoever. When I boarded with SkyPriority in CDG and in GVA I had my PM card ready, but neither GA said a thing.
