Op-Ups on AF remain a mystery... Contrary to the popular belief that they will op-up all the FB Elites first, this is not always the case.

Silver here. Been Op-uped on AF Metal several times, last time was W to C in 2013, CDG-JFK - W fare . There were at least 2 FB Plats and 1 Gold that I know of who didn't get upgraded.

Crossing fingers for my next CDG-JFK flight, currently booked in W but it seems that it will be overbooked, a common practice on the A380.
