My wife and I are in the middle of a RTW trip and trying to figure out future travels and I though maybe some experts could help out.

Anyway, sometime in mid or late February, our dream trans-Pacific trip is three separate flights:

AUK Auckland - PPT Tahiti
PPT Tahiti - IPC Easter Island
IPC Easter Island - SCL Santiago

I am posting here because we have a good amount of American Airlines One World Points and LAN seems like a good option. I'm not sure how or if it is possible to do this trip on points (without breaking the bank). I'm considering doing a mix of buying flights and spending points.

Willing to spend around $600 USD for both of us and maybe about 150k miles/points. We always fly economy awards.

I have 150,000+ AA miles and she has 100,000+ AA miles. I know LAN airlines goes between IPC and PPT/SCL. So, it seems like this should be possible. We could buy AUK to PPT if necessary. Also, we have about 80k MR, 55k UR, 30k SPG, 89k Delta and 55k United.

Anyone wanna take a stab at this and help point me in the right direction? I am kind of overwhelmed with all the options.
I'm moving this to the AA board, but briefly, it doesn't sound too difficult. AKL-PPT AND PPT-IPC are both flights within the South Pacific region, for which AA charges 20,000 miles for one-way flights in economy, so 40K per person to get to Easter Island. IPC-SCL is intercontinental in AA parlance, so the one-way economy price would be 37,500 AA miles. (Even though IPC and SCL are in the same country, the "wholly within the same country" 5000 mile economy award doesn't apply to that route.)

However, a one-way economy ticket on Lan between IPC and SCL is around US$300, so it would make sense to use miles to get from AKL to IPC, then pay for the ticket to the mainland.

Air Tahiti is an AA partner for the trip from AKL to Tahiti.
