What I meant of course was particular rotations (as opposed to routes with multiple rotations) where it is less common.
True it can and does happen, particularly on rotations served by both A380s and 747s. However the need for such routes to be operated by multi type qualified crew, ferry crew as passengers and/or schedule longer crew stops to align with the aircraft operating the route means that it is avoided as far as possible.
