Some I know recently bought a ticket from SYR-HKG roundtrip on UA business for $4300 ($3000 less from full fare UA even though the fare basis is 'C'). Even though he got through the outbound segments, when he checked in @ HKG, the agents caught a flaw and ordered him to pay $1575 USD more because he didn't fly to Toronto.

The reason: The agent @ 1stair.net was able to issue such low fares was that they included another trips on that itinerary from Toronto to Syracuse and Syracuse to Toronto (Air Canada flights). So the trip was basically YYZ-SYR-ORD-HKG-ORD-SYR-YYZ. Even more frustrating was that the sneaky issuing agent stapled the Canadian segments at the very end of the tickets.

Moral: Even though 1stair.net aren't liable for anything in this case, all of us should beware of scams like this. Also check all the coupons for weird/additonal routings!!!!!!!
