You arrive the next day.

On you way back from Asia you arrive the same day, generally before you left according to the clock. For example Tokyo to LA, you leave Tokyo at 4p and arrive LA at 8a of the same day, in effect 8 hours before your flight took off. The miracle of the international date line.

On your trip to Asia, if you leave LA at 2p Monday, you arrive Tokyo about 5p Tuesday.

It is not that silly of a question. I have stood next to enough people checking in to their hotel in Tokyo and the clerk says your reservation was for yesterday!
