I suggest you a very easy 10 minutes walk to the hotel, which is less than half mile away.
(Google maps help you to find directions)
If you choose this highly suggested option remember to exit the station from track 6 (towards Via Triboniano) and not from the main exit that will take you north of tracks. If you prefer the tram on the contrary you have to use the main exit to reach the nearby tram stop.
For schedules of trams and public transportation (during the day trams run every 6-9 minutes) visit
www.atm-mi.it ticket costs 1,5 € for 90 minutes and 4,5 € for 24 hours unlimited rides. To figure the stop you have to get off visit google maps and digit "Piazzale Santorre di Santarosa, Milano" that is the stop closest to the hotel.
Other options for public transportation are available on Viale Certosa, but not suggested for your first day, unless you became familiar with the area. taxi not suggested unless you have a lot of bags.
I will be arriving at MXP tomorrow afternoon around 1:30 PM. I wish to go to the Doubletree Hotel.
What is the most economical way to get to the hotel. I have one large baggage - so the city's rapid transit is out. I am willing to take a combination of the train and the taxi.
Does the Milan Certosa train station have a taxi stand? I wish to disembark at a Milan train station where it is easy to get a taxi - preferably one with a taxi stand.
