If you are one of those who enjoys looking down at the world from above, then AMS-JRO can be a really nice flight. It of course all depends on the weather and the exact route, but you may expect such highlights as the Rhine; the Bodensee (Lake Constance); the Alps; Lago di Garda or Lago Maggiore; Rome or Athens; the Mediterranean; the Sahara; the Nile; and Khartoum. Well worth a window seat, in my opinion.
AMS-JNB is even better, by the way. It includes many of the above on the European side (albeit usually Genoa and Sicilly instead of Rome), but you also get the spectacular Tibesti Massif, and usually reach the Intertropical Convergence Zone just before sunset, when the thunderstorms are at their prettiest.
