Last night (02:45 UTC) a total lunar eclipse with a blood red Moon took place in eastern USA (west USA only the end in evening), South America, Europe and West Africa. The event lasted about 1 1/2 hours.

When the Moon is not too high in the sky (at most 30º elevation) passengers at the one side of the plane could see it. Or at the flight deck when the plane is heading about the position of the Moon, e.g. from SE Asia=> Europe flights or US West Coast => Europe flights.

It must be amazing.
