There is additional security screening to enter the gate area, but it was also fast and efficient. 4:00 am is certainly safe; you could probably go as late as 4:30 am.

The lounge is under remodel, so not available for a while. They gave us SGD30 vouchers for the coffee / pastry place instead.

Just to avoid future confusion, this thread is about departing SGN (Ho Chi Mihn City), not SIN (Singapore).

Is the general consensus to arrive to the airport around 4:00 AM? We will be checking bags.

Will I get access to a lounge? I'm a 1K and will be flying in Y.
I flew this a couple weeks ago. I arrived at 3:30 and that was too early. I was planning more on 4AM, but checkout / taxi / drive went much quicker then I expected.

There was a bit of a line already for regular economy check-in, but the business/ *G line was quick.

I actually stood around outgoing immigration for a couple minutes as there was no one manning any of the booths. Turns out there was one guy working, but he was asleep and slumped down under the counter. A coworker wandered by and woke him up so I could be processed out.

I don't believe you have lounge access as a 1k in Economy. The lounge is not a Star Alliance lounge, so no access under those rules. For any chance, ask for a lounge invitation when you check in. I don't think they will give you one, but that would be your only shot. It was a decent place to hang out for a bit, but nothing special. (I was in J, so received the invitation).

The airport was pretty deserted. I seem to recall one little coffee / sandwich shop open, but that was about it.
