I was given one of these as a Christmas present and I really like it. I haven't been overseas since I got it, so I can't comment on that. No problem with it going through security. The flashlight is rather weak, plus I have a bit of a problem separating the two halves...don't know if that's just mine, or if they are all like that. Anyway, I've taken it on a few trips and I like it. The alarm clock has a nifty feature where once the alarm goes off, it starts out at a low volume and steadily increases in volume until you shut it off.
