As others will surely mention, "worth it" is an impossible thing to measure universally. For me, I will ALWAYS book First Class over Business Class if available, because the incremental miles required as so easily recouped.

Funny that I actually find your 3rd con about experiencing the flight "together" with your wife is a pro for me and my wife - we actually prefer not to dine together and probably don't have more than 1 or 2 short conversations during flights. Rest assured, you will literally still be 5 feet from each other. For us, we have the rest of our lives to spend together, so in my mind 12 hours of "me" time is very much welcome.
