Antonio, I posted some comments on yelp but here is my reaction, thanks for asking.

We drove up from Fairmont Chateau Frontenac (Wonderful hotel) with high expectations, after stopping in the Saint Lawrence river townships and wineries along the way to Charlevoix. We were fortunate to have splendid weather and the drive although over 2 hours with our frequent stops was very pleasant.

We arrived to Manoir Richelieu around 4pm. It looks similar to a medieval knights meets Fairmont Chateau Whistler. I stopped at the valet and unloaded my 2 small bags as the bell desk staff watched. Check in went quickly and we proceeded to our room. We had a garden view (which was acceptable, renovated in 2008), but seeing we were visiting for our anniversary and the hotel was visibly deserted, I am shocked we were not offered a River View. (At this point in the St. Lawerence, it is quite wide and on hazy mornings can even appear to be open ocean) They provided 2 cupcakes as welcome amenity, they said Happy and Anniversary. Odd but the gesture was appreciated.

After settling in, we walked a fair distance to the pool / spa club. Having read there are 3 pools and 2 hot tubs of varying temperature we were excited to try them out.

1 heated pool and 1 hot (warm) tub were open, as the hotel is "slow" we were told, the other pools were closed. All had water, just roped off to guests. The pool that was open had lots of cracked coping and was pretty mediocre compared to many resort style hotels we have visited. We asked for drinks and were told the bar closed at 1 and we would have to order through room service. With minimum beer order being a 6 pack, No thanks. After an hour at a pretty boring pool we went down for dinner. We got in a modest line at the hotel restaurant and waited for 15 min for the maitre'd to acknowledge us and seat us. They initially claimed there were no seats, but they managed to find us a table in the corner.

As we learned the kitchen was under renovation so there would be a long wait for ala carte meals or we could try the buffet. It being somewhat late, we incorrectly opted for the buffet. When I went to serve some items they were out. I inquired when more would be put out (including a prime rib) I was told 15-30 min. What buffet works like that? The prime rib was never replenished and I settled for dry salmon and cheese offerings.

We went to bed and noticed the sheets were quite pilled. One the 2nd night we requested fresh sheets of newer age be used, and this request was accommodated.

On day 2 we hiked the planet walk along the coast, 3km each way with the planets to scale, cute, but nothing special (No pluto). After our walk down elementary school lane we were ready for lunch at the golf club house, which rests 1000' above the hotel on the hill/mountain top. We waited for a golf cart to drive to the summit. The golf attendant said they had run out of carts and we would need to wait until someone playing golf finished for the day. What? Run out of carts at a golf club? 30 min of waiting and we finally arrived at the top, where it is quite the view! We had lunch there and enjoyed the scenery. We had a similar issue of no carts at the top either, confusing, but eventually got back down.

For dinner we considered the restaurants again, but instead opted for assorted appetizers at the hotel bar and some snacks in our room. The bar had live music, a french singer, but sang english songs, this was unique and a nice touch. At 11 I asked for marshmallows (an amenity they provide for guests to roast at the outdoor fire pit) They were a bit slow at getting them, but did provide them with sticks and off we went to roast marshmallows.

The hotel staff spoke English fairly well, but mostly catered to Quebecois visiting the adjacent slot machine casino. They come by the bus load for day trips to give away their pensions. The hotel does not have a gold floor, but offers a "Select" floor on 5 that is open to high rollers from the Slot Party going on in the casino. The hotel is mostly geared to retirees and while that didn't affect our stay we mentioned it felt like we were on an Alaskan Cruise boat.

I think our experience was mostly ruined by the terrible cuisine, but over all the hotel is acceptable, just lacked polish and organization. I did hear they are looking for a new Hotel Director so perhaps this will improve their operation.

Would I return, no. Would I go back to Frontenac in QC, yes. Overall 2.5/5. Food .85/5

We departed at 11am and drove to Montreal, where we stayed at the Queen Elizabeth.

(Random note, the room offers a 52" LG LED tv, but all content is in SD. Not one channel is in 16:9 or of HD quality) I am sure they didn't pay lodgenet/provider for this network upgrade, but felt a bit crappy for Canada in 2015.
