While imperfect, something like this would be much cheaper and would help for those infrequent fliers that don't know any better. (Or those that come from another country like Japan where it is walk right, stand left.)
I think we know the REAL reason is to add more retail space. With all those missed connections due to sucky on-time performance and The Rebanking, PAX milling about clearly need more places to spend their money.
