I think you can get that message if you try to access your API details in a specific booking accessed via MMB.
What other people are talking about is logging in to your BAEC account and going to your stored personal details there, not the API section in your booking. Once you're logged in, you can get to the personal details (including passport number) in your BAEC account without needing your passport number again.
Alternatively, if you first log in to your BAEC account and then go to your booking, you may find the security feature is no longer in place.
I can do both (i.e. see number in the booking and BAEC account) without being asked for the number. However, if the API has been completed in the booking, are you still asked for the passport number? I can't remember being asked as I OLCI on my phone most of the time.
