I agree that the Pulitzer is very pricey, but it is one of the nicest hotels in Amsterdam. I think the Amstel Intercontinental is probably a bit better, but it is more expensive (I think) and the location is definitely not as good.

The Pulitzer is just a block away from Anne Frank House, about a twenty minute walk from Centraal station (Do you think American Airlines named that train station? ).
