It was really the Jetblue buildup that corresponded with AA's drawdown on NYC-Florida (also NYC - Caribbean) over the past decade. NYC-Florida is a heavily leisure travel which AA has shown is not a priority for them.

There is a small glimmer of hope. LGA-MCO is being relaunched (one daily flight) in mid-December. And AA has had a seasonal LGA-PBI in past years (not sure if it is confirmed to come back this year). But that's about it.
