I will be traveling with some other people and some of us can access GF while some of us only GC, and we plan on eating together before we board our flight. (none of us can access the CCR)
I understand if one can access GF he/she can also access GC, but I just wanted to understand how the lounges are laid out.
You won't get access to pre-flight dining solely by virtue of your status (unless you have access to the CCR regardless of the cabin, in which case you can dine there). GCHs/SCHs must be flying CW/F to avail themselves of the buffet in GC and have dinner before the flight. However, there is some food (like sandwiches and cheese) available to everyone (at least in the GF), which is not that bad, actually.

CW and F passengers on any of the evening services can have dinner in GC. They don't check whether or not your flight is a sleeper service. You simply must fly F (they will point out that you can also have dinner in the CCR) or CW.
