A friend and I are on a flight out of HCMC, Vietnam (SGN) on December 25 to Koh Samui, Thailand (USM) via Bangkok (BKK). The first leg of the flight (SGN-BKK) is on Vietnam Airlines and the second leg is on Bangkok Airways (BKK-USM).

I was wondering if upon arrival at BKK, will we have to get our luggage and recheck with Bangkok Airways or will Vietnam Airlines check our luggage through to Bangkok Airways for the flight to USM?

Any insight would be appreciated. Our layover at BKK is 1h 25m and Im not sure that would be enough time to get our luggage and recheck with the other airline. However, I've never been to BKK.
