I have always updated into a new version when App store is proposing that and so far having luck of not getting those problems.

Also it amazes me how fast the App is at showing any new/updated bookings, even codeshares. They appear there immediately, sometimes I haven't even got the ticket emailed, let alone talk about the AY login page where the updates often come with a loooong delay
