Glad someone's already gotten some help from my mistakes. Here are some other AA/Oneworld tidbits I learned from all this, hopefully you may learn if you're a noob like me. =D

- EQPs are based off of EQMs, not actual miles flown (some may say 'No duh', but for a noob like me, this was a costly mistake)
- Regardless of EQMs, you'll [more than likely] earn AAdvantage miles for actual miles flown (always double check)
- Booking with JAL significantly devalues your EQMs, so it's worth it to book on AA, even if it's $100-200 more
- If you pay to upgrade to Premium Economy for JAL on the day of your flight, the actual miles/points you earn will be based off of your original fare purchased regardless of Premium Economy fare code (confirmed this on JAL website and with JAL representative)
