Could these also be considered a variant of the "Catnap"? And if on one of these Sleep Runs, you happen to down a bottle of Sam Adams, would you not be having a "Catnip"? [My appologies to Lenny Henry.]

I think my comrad on the AC Forum, EMPRESS, has one of these Sleep Runs planned for Vancouver later this month, hopping from one to another Hampton Inn and then to a third Hilton, to take advantage of cheap C$ room rates and the 50K fast-track to Gold promotion.

I guess I did a couple of these two years ago. One was a single night stay at a local Crowne Plaza so I would reach 20 nights for Priority Club Gold. Hardly worth the effort, for all one gets in this program, but...

The other was actually just a local Westin stay. The Edmonton property was celebrating its 25th anniversary and offered rooms for a very special C$25 per night rate. Who could resist? At check-in the clerk advised me that I might not get SPG points for this stay, but a few days later they did post, both as points and as a stay for elite status.
