Yes I can.

I cite every single survivable crash in which there is not one instance of bags damaging slides and not one instance of a person being injured by carrying bags off.

I do not think I ever asserted it was not considered an industry best practice.

Best practice is not your best argument here. Smoking on a plane was a best practice.

Your best argument is common sense says in an emergency situation get off the plane ASAP. If you can do that with your handbag and not impede the flow of people, no harm, no foul.

That is not a viable argument. If it were, there would tons of arrests every day on flights. Example... seat belt sign on and crew says you must remain in your seat, tons of people disregard the 'safety related command' and use the loo.

In a real emergency with fire and the cabin filling up with smoke, I think people are getting off the plane ASAP without bags. In the case of a precautionary landing (e.g. smoke in the cockpit) and the chutes deployed, people are highly likely to take their bags.

I don't recall many people taking bags in Asiana crash at SFO. I recall many in the JetBlue emergency landing at LAX.
