And while we're at it, they're the same lot whose transport minister, someone who made his millions from building roads, did his best to destroy the railways altogether rather than fixing them. That was a while ago, but we're all still suffering.
I'm all for privatisation, but it only works when there's competition. Ironically in this case, i.e. getting to Heathrow, there is competition, from Heathrow Connect and the tube, not to mention buses, cabs, minicabs and Uber. However, those people standing at the airport selling tickets should be compelled to tell their customers the price of the tube and Heathrow Connect before they sell the tickets. They have an unfair competitive advantage, contrary to the fundamentals of a market economy.
Mind you, I always get the bus if I have time to spare, as it stops at the bottom of my street, or if I'm in a hurry, a minicab. Black cabs never get my cash as the drivers are typically rude as they want a fare into Central London; a £35 fare to South West London appears to offend them.
Yup.
Whenever I pass those people selling HEX tickets and there are people waiting I always stop and tell them about Connect. It's laughable that the Connect signs couldn't be any smaller if they tried.
