In a related vein, for visa reasons, I obtained a second US passport. This second one was issued for a period of only 2 years. On the back cover (under Amendments and Endorsements) there is typed language that says I may have it extended with the approval of the Dept. of State.

Has anyone had any experience with extending a passport such as this?
