That's great then. Glad your trip worked out. And I should read before I post.

They said on a few of the English news pages it was the most rain since 2008 the other day. Lots of worse-than-normal flooding just north of downtown.

For anyone browsing the thread in the future, there's also a river tour that started lately. It's near the Saigon Zoo, and heads upstream with a guide in what looks like a river but is essentially a canal. I guess they talk about history, architecture, floating markets, etc but don't really know. It was a cleanup project funded by the World Bank for a long time that's made the area decent, although not blue or clear water by any means. The water is, ummm, really dirty. But some people seem to enjoy it. I might give it a try one of these days.
