I looked around Frys Electronics a few days before my trip (presently in transit in TPE), and saw a variety of noise canceling headphones including a couple of Sonys. I don't remember any of them being up to $199, and seeing that they had Maxell's on sale at $37 (reuglar $50), decided to give those a try. Their specs on noise reduction of up to 15dB was better or as good as any of the others which were mostly 10dB reduction.

There is significant difference when I swith them on while the plane is in flight, but don't know how they compare to the NC10.
