Not to derail this thread too much, but I have frequently stayed at Jurys Inn, located just by the Hatton Cross tube station (so 1 or 2 stops from the airport), and found it quite serviceable for one night under GBP100. Very basic accommodation, but quiet and the beds are better than some US mid-range hotels I have stayed at.
