What can also happen is your bag may not travel on the same plane as you (especially as you have a connection at LAX - they could forget to load your bag, or the plane could have weight issues and they don't load your bag (happened to a friend last week, her case arrived 2 days after she did, but luckily she was at her final destination, so an inconvenience but not catastrophic). If your bag went LAX-BKK directly, because of baggage issues, how difficult would it be for you to go and get the bag back?
