Hey FTers, I can't find a recent thread on this. If this is a repeat please let me know.

I have the Gold Rewards card and just upgraded to Plat so now I have both (Plat card is still in the mail). I would like to keep both: Plat for the benefits and Gold for the 2x MR points on category spending.

Is there any way that Amex would: i) waive the Gold AF? or ii) reduce the combined AF? or iii) any other options based on your experience in this matter?

For further context, my Gold renewal is coming up in 2 days on Sep 19. I called CS this morning for retention offers and they offer me 10,000 MR with no spend requirements. I accepted. Annual spend on the Gold is around $65k.
